A GoFundMe was created to raise funds for the funeral of Obdulia Sanchez – a woman previously convicted of driving drunk while live-streaming the crash that killed her younger sister in 2017.
Sanchez, 26, of Stockton, was killed in a drive-by shooting that claimed her life on Dec. 2 and injured a man.
The San Joaquin County Sheriff’s Office said just after 7 p.m. deputies responded to the 700 block of Gertrude Avenue on reports of a shooting. A man and Sanchez were found at the scene with gunshot wounds and taken to a hospital, deputies said.

Sanchez later died from her injuries.
“Your support will help us focus on healing and remembering the person she was, rather than worrying about financial burdens during this difficult time,” Gloria Sanchez stated.
The mother said she wanted to honor her child’s life by giving her a Catholic burial surrounded by the love of family and friends. However, she said the costs of funeral arrangements are more than the family could manage.
“Losing a child is something no parent should ever have to face, and the pain has been overwhelming, especially as we are still grieving the recent loss of my husband,” Gloria Sanchez wrote on the GoFundMe. “Our family is struggling to cope with so much loss in such a short time, and we are doing our best to support each other and begin the long process of healing.”
She said the family had experienced an unimaginable tragedy with Obdulia Sanchez’s death.
The goal of the fundraiser is $9,000.
Gloria Sanchez, mother of Obdulia Sanchez and the creator of the fundraiser, said she was reaching out to the community with a heavy heart to ask for help with her daughter's funeral costs.
Sanchez's criminal history
In 2018, Sanchez, 19, was sentenced to six years and four months in prison for driving drunk while live-streaming the crash that killed her 14-year-old sister.
She was convicted of gross vehicular manslaughter with an enhancement for causing bodily injury or death to more than one victim, and abuse/endanger health of a child.

The car, driven by Sanchez, veered onto the shoulder of a road in Los Banos. Authorities say she overcorrected, causing the vehicle to swerve and overturn, ejecting and killing Jacqueline Sanchez.
Prosecutors said Sanchez was livestreaming on Instagram while driving, and the video showed her taking her hands off the steering wheel.
The recording showed her after the crash, leaning over her dead sister.
Reports from officers stated that Sanchez had called 911 after the crash.
“Can you come pick up my sister, she is (expletive) dead,” Sanchez is quoted in the reports. “Man, I just crashed and I was DUI. Can you please come pick us up?”

While on parole, Sanchez was sentenced to five years, four months for evading or attempting to evade a peace officer while driving recklessly and possessing/owning a firearm by a felon or addict as a second-striker.
