A Cessna C550 crashed while landing at Statesville Regional Airport in North Carolina on Thursday morning, the Federal Aviation Administration said.

The FAA told Fox News Digital the C550 crashed around 10:20 a.m.

The FAA and the National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB) are investigating, with the NTSB leading the probe.

An official with the Iredell County Sheriff’s Office told Fox News Digital that a small jet crashed after it took off shortly after 10 a.m.

It appeared to be attempting to return to the airport within minutes of departure before going down, the official said.
