CHIPPEWA TWP. ― It has only been three months since it opened, but a Beaver County convenience store has reason to celebrate this holiday season
The Sheetz at 2733 Constitution Blvd., Chippewa Township, sold a $2 million-winning Powerball with Power Play ticket for the Dec. 13 drawing.
The Pennsylvania Lottery reported the ticket matched five of the five white balls drawn, 1-28-31-57-58, to win $2 million, less applicable withholding. Without the $1 Power Play option, the ticket would have been worth $1 million, according to a release from the lottery.

Sheetz, which opened at the end of September, will earn a $10,000 bonus for selling the winning ticket.
Winners are not known until prizes are claimed and tickets are validated. Pennsylvania Lottery Powerball winners have one year from the drawing date to claim prizes. Winning tickets purchased at a lottery retailer should immediately be signed on the back. Online winnings automatically appear in a player’s account after the claim has been processed. Players may visit palottery.com for more information about how to file a claim.
In Pennsylvania, the recent Powerball jackpot run has generated more than $82.7 million in sales, creating a profit of more than $33.1 million to benefit older Pennsylvanians.
Pennsylvania Lottery players have options to purchase their Powerball tickets online or by visiting a retailer. Players can find lottery-selling locations closest to them by visiting the Find a Retailer section of the lottery’s website.

The lottery is also reminding players that it is participating in the National Council on Problem Gambling’s annual Gift Responsibly Campaign. This campaign raises awareness that lottery products are not appropriate gifts for children and encourages responsible gifting during the holiday season.
